As a former educator with over 20 years of experience working with children and families in public school, private school, and mental health settings, Rachel is uniquely equipped to understand the complex intersections of mental health and learning differences. She offers expertise the following:
-Understanding the school-based intervention process
-504s and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
-Interpreting educational and psychological testing scores and evaluations
-Learning about accommodations/modifications and evidenced-based practices in providing special education services
-Evaluating whether or not your child is making progress towards their goals
-Building partnerships with school staff
-Becoming an advocate for your child
-Guidance in choosing the appropriate public, private, homeschool setting
Rachel serves on behalf of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities, and some disabilities under Other Health Impairment. She can provide educational consultation during sessions, by attending IEP meetings with you, and/or consulting with school staff depending on what meets your individual needs. The goal is to help facilitate communication and build a partnership between you and the school staff to support your child in reaching their full potential.
